Games Under the Mango Tree and Rival Cities by Deep Print Games were published by Pegasus Spiele
Friedberg, April 22, 2025: Two new Deep Print Games have recently become available as spring novelties exclusively distributed by Pegasus Spiele: Players can restore a piece of land to its natural beauty in the family game Under the Mango Tree, and can experience a historical city duel in the core game Rival Cities.
In the family game Under the Mango Tree, two to four players aged seven and up take on the role of conservationists working to restore a small piece of Australian wilderness. Players select cards each round using a drafting mechanism, then place the selected card into their personal player board. Each card has two halves: one will be tucked and hidden under the game board, while the other remains visible and scores points. Each card half belongs to one of the five areas displayed around the mango tree: the tree itself, a beehive, an animal reserve, the coast, and a garbage removal site. Players score each of their areas at the end of the game and whoever has collected the most points at the end is the winner. Under the Mango Tree by author Karl Lange is a game about transforming a piece of nature into a thriving paradise and is brought to life with illustrations by Dennis Lohausen.
Against the historical backdrop of the 16th century, two players can experience the exciting duel between the up-and-coming fishing village of Altona and the traditional Hanseatic city of Hamburg in Rival Cities. In this strategic tug-of-war, players decide each round how far to advance a ink jar as they consider the available action cards: Moving up to two spaces is free, but they must pay for further steps with valuable products. In addition, the position of the jar will determine which cards are available to the opponent on their turn. Over the course of several seasons, players use products and letters to buy ships, gain prestige, form alliances and influence lawsuits in their favor. They can also collect important star tokens through strategic donations. The key to victory lies in balancing costs and benefits each season. Whoever manages to gain an unassailable lead in one of the four success areas – prestige, lawsuits, ships, alliances – wins immediately, otherwise the game ends after seven seasons and the player with the most stars wins. In Rival Cities, it is essential to balance costs and benefits, but it is also important to always keep an eye on your opponent’s intentions. The core game duel was developed by Andreas Steding and illustrated by Annika Heller.
