Bomb Busters by Pegasus Spiele was nominated for German game award “Spiel des Jahres” by expert jury
Friedberg, May 26, 2025: On May 20, the Spiel des Jahres jury announced the recommendations and nominations for the Children’s Game, Core Game, and Game of the Year for 2025. The jury was delighted by Pegasus Spiele’s cooperative family game, Bomb Busters, designed by Hisashi Hayashi, and it is one of three nominations for Game of the Year.
Dorfromantik – The Board Game won Game of the Year in 2023, and Pegasus Spiele is thrilled to be nominated once again for this prestigious award. Whether Pegasus Spiele will receive the world’s most important prize for board and card games for the sixth time will be discovered when the winners are announced at the award ceremony on July 13th in Berlin.
In the cooperative game Bomb Busters, two to five players aged ten and above are bomb disposal experts attempting to defuse increasingly dangerous bombs. They prove their deduction skills over a total of 66 replayable missions with increasing levels of difficulty. To successfully defuse a bomb, players must deduce, identify, and cut identical pairs of numbered cables before the bomb explodes. However, each player can only see their own cables, so they must cleverly combine clues to draw the right conclusions.
Nominated for Game of the Year 2025, Bomb Busters is a varied game that even advanced players will enjoy, thanks to its increasingly challenging missions and five surprise boxes containing additional rules and materials. Teamwork and strategic thinking are the keys to success in this family game! The cables are only cut figuratively — all the game’s tokens remain intact and therefore the game is fully replayable. Bomb Busters is currently sold out, but it is expected to be available again from specialty retailers in June.
