Family game Wolfmoon published by Pegasus Spiele
Friedberg, 16 September 2026: With Wolfmoon, Pegasus Spiele has released a new card game that ties in thematically with the well-known Werewolves series. In terms of gameplay, however, Wolfmoon breaks new ground, as players must bluff, skilfully exploit card effects and switch their character at just the right moment to win. This game was developed by the design duo Michael Palm and Lukas Zach. Their joint game Dorfromantik – The Board Game was voted Game of the Year in 2023.
At the start of a game of Wolfmoon, each player is dealt a secret character card. As the game progresses, players draw, play and swap further cards. Through various card effects, they can gather information, gain advantages for themselves or even eliminate other players from the game. The path to victory depends on the character in question. Whilst the werewolf automatically wins if she remains in the game until the very end, the vampire must also have two cards with a value of seven or higher in her display. The last player remaining in the game also wins, or – if neither of these scenarios occurs – the player with the highest hand value.
Strategy, bluffing and a keen ability to read your fellow players are all essential in this fast-paced card game. Players must decide when to use their abilities and which statements to trust. At the same time, they should keep their own role and objective secret for as long as possible – or switch roles at just the right moment. Thanks to 30 unique character cards, every round plays out differently.
The game, illustrated by Lea Fröhlich, is particularly suitable for families and groups of friends comprising three to six people aged eight and over. Thematically, this family game is based on the Werewolves series, and some familiar characters such as the Seer, the Witch and the Mayor reappear – albeit with different abilities. However, whilst in games from the mentioned Werewolves series your role is determined at the start and usually has to be maintained throughout the game, the particular appeal of Wolfmoon lies in outwitting your fellow players through skilful role-swapping.
