Dorfromantik - Light Luggage illustrations, tiles and packshot

Latest game in the Dorfromantik series published by Pegasus Spiele

Friedberg, November 21, 2025: Pegasus Spiele has released the next standalone game in the Dorfromantik game series at SPIEL Essen. Dorfromantik – Light Luggage packs the idyllic, cooperative core mechanics of Game of the Year 2023 Dorfromantik – The Board Game into a portable magnetic box, with fresh gameplay to discover and achievements to unlock.

Dorfromantik – Light Luggage continues the successful tile-placement game series by designer duo Michael Palm & Lukas Zach, whose game idea is based on the video game of the same name by Toukana Interactive. The first board game in the series, Dorfromantik – The Board Game, was released at SPIEL Essen 2022 and was awarded Game of the Year in 2023. The goal of the game is easy to explain: one to six players aged eight and up work together to place hexagonal tiles to create an idyllic landscape, while trying to complete tasks to score points. Additionally, the longest train track, the longest river, and strategic placement of flags in completed areas will all contribute bonus points to the group’s final score. As players progress through the replayable campaign, they will unlock new components hidden in five secret boxes. These new game elements add additional challenges to the game that enable players to reach ever-higher scores,  every play.

In 2023, the competitive spin-off Dorfromantik – The Duel was released and transformed the popular feel-good title into a friendly competition. Two players, or two teams of players, aged eight and up use identical tiles each turn to try and fulfil the village’s tasks to score more points than their opponent. Dorfromantik – Sakura, a standalone cooperative sequel with a beautiful Japanese aesthetic, was released in 2024 and invited players to design a countryside dotted with cherry blossoms, rice paddies, and meandering stone paths.

Dorfromantik – Light Luggage introduces a brand-new cooperative campaign for one to four players aged 8 and up and is, once again, illustrated by Paul Riebe. The box is only a quarter of the size of its predecessors and the tiles are smaller, requiring less space. This is ideal for anyone who is traveling, playing on small gaming tables, or looking for a compact introduction to the Dorfromantik experience that is perfect for a midday break.

Even in this handy size, the cozy atmosphere of the series remains intact: long rivers, flags in completed areas, and fulfilled tasks from the residents earn points at final scoring. Packaged in a practical magnetic box, players of Dorfromantik – Light Luggage will track their high score each game, instead of progressing along a campaign map. By exceeding each scoring threshold on the high score track, players will unlock new components and challenges for their next session. The compact box also includes new material for owners of Dorfromantik – The Board Game.
